GitHub Copilot: app, Universe releases

Released · GitHub / Microsoft

What the release notes say

Work doesn't always fit in a single repository or session. A feature can span several repositories. A launch plan can pull in specs, designs, and assets without touching a repository at all. Projects in the GitHub Copilot app give that work one home, with its context, agents, and results together. Copilot coordinates the work in the background and checks in when it needs you. Give Copilot a goal Start a project, describe what you want to get done, and add the context Copilot needs (e.g., repositories, design mocks, Slack threads, or notes from a design meeting). Choose the models and tools for the job. Copilot runs as many agents as the work needs and brings back results (e.g., pull requests) for your review. Use project automations for repeatable tasks, such as creating a new promo video whenever a feature lands. For a focused task in a single repository, you can still start a session directly from that repository. Copilot Projects are now in public preview. You can learn more in the projects documentation . Handle the work around your code Use context from connected tools such as Slack and Figma to research a request, draft a specification, or work through a design alongside your code. You can also generate and edit images using natural language in chat. Let Copilot work with your desktop apps Ask Copilot to work through tasks in your desktop apps, such as an expense-report workflow. Computer use—in public preview on macOS and Windows—lets Copilot read app content, click controls, enter or edit text, and navigate across apps, including those without an API, command-line interface, or MCP integration. Copilot asks for your approval before controlling an app, and your organization can disable the feature through managed settings. To get started, open Settings > Computer Use and turn on Enable Computer Use . On macOS, grant the required Accessibility and Screen Recording permissions. For more information, see the computer use documentation . Get started Download or update the GitHub Copilot app and join the discussion in GitHub Community . Table of Contents
