July 20, 2026 Jan Hartman Code Finder: fast, efficient search for coding agents now in Beta Our new MCP tool finds relevant code faster with lower token usage. Code Finder, a fast and efficient agent optimized specifically for code search, is now available in Beta through the Sourcegraph MCP server . Code Finder is a tool that helps coding agents quickly locate relevant implementations, configuration, tests, or documentation within a single repository. It returns a concise summary with links and line ranges, giving your agent focused results it can immediately use. To show the strengths of using an optimized search agent, we assembled a benchmark suite with a variety of search tasks across several repositories, from small to large. The results show clear improvements in speed and cost. In particular, Code Finder is more than twice as fast compared to a coding agent searching with local tools and up to 40% cheaper than a coding agent using our MCP toolset, achieving comparable result quality. Variant Duration Cost Code Finder 1.00× 1.00× MCP tools 1.14× 1.63× Local search 2.19× 1.32×

smart hover summaries Beta period
April 20, 2026 · Robert Lin · Emi · Michal Kielbowicz · Adam Chrapkowski · Smart hover summaries now in Beta · Smart hover summaries leverage precise code intelligence data to show key architectural details of your code on hover. · When precise code intelligence is available, you now get a summary of the meaning of the symbol, and usage of the symbol across the codebase. · In combination with the precise code intelligence hover information, this often saves the need to jump to a symbol and back which interrupts the flow of reading, and simplifies understanding complex codebases. · +9 more changesRead the full release noteHide the full release note
April 20, 2026 Robert Lin Emi Michal Kielbowicz Adam Chrapkowski Smart hover summaries now in Beta Smart hover summaries leverage precise code intelligence data to show key architectural details of your code on hover. When precise code intelligence is available, you now get a summary of the meaning of the symbol, and usage of the symbol across the codebase. In combination with the precise code intelligence hover information, this often saves the need to jump to a symbol and back which interrupts the flow of reading, and simplifies understanding complex codebases. Linked citations can even serve as an alternative to traditional code navigation. Summaries are powered by a small, fast model, but only compiler-grade precise code intelligence data is used to inform the LLM of actual usage patterns across your repositories, allowing the LLM to cite factual usage locations in its answers - even across repositories. Smart hover summaries are a Beta feature . The feature may become billable with credits once it becomes generally available. Please share feedback on this feature with us at feedback@sourcegraph.com or via your customer success manager. For information, see the documentation .

June 29, 2026 Robert Lin Agentic Batch Changes Beta Take control of your codebase. Codebases are growing and changing faster than ever, but the problem of maintaining systems - old and new - is not going away for codebase owners . If anything, it is becoming more important than ever. Today, we're taking the next step to meet this new era of software development with Agentic Batch Changes , available now in Beta : the frontier agent for code change at scale, built on technology designed for the world's largest codebases. Agentic Batch Changes is built on top of Batch Changes , our precision tool for making coordinated updates across all your code. Paired with Deep Search , our agent for understanding complex codebases, these two tools form the foundation of an agent harness specialized for applying changes across codebases at any scale: from thousands of repositories to the largest monorepos. This could mean anything from large-scale migrations, to patching security vulnerabilities, to applying upgrades with breaking changes, and more: anything a single coding agent can do in one repository, Agentic Batch Changes can orchestrate across all of your repositories at the same time.
