CLI coding agents are shipping product surfaces (TUI, voice, desktop, usage dashboards) while the load-bearing work is MCP/plugin isolation, managed settings, and session-resume/thinking reliability.

What the evidence shows

Versioned GitHub releases are the high-confidence core of this window. HTML changelogs are mixed in (about half the source mix) and sometimes bundle several versions in one page.

For developers

  • Upgrade Claude Code to v2.1.282 before relying on --continue / --resume. The listed fixes target re-sent history, dropped extended thinking after /model and friends, and thinking loss when --tools omits a built-in tool. Then run claude doctor / /status and set maxProseWidth if wide terminals wrap prose poorly (open proposal: everyone, P5).
  • Treat Codex voice as a default, not a demo. rust-v0.155.0 gated /voice behind /experimental; rust-v0.156.0 turns voice on by default with F8 and /voice settings. If you live in tmux/SSH, the clipboard/paste fixes in 0.156.0 matter more than the themes. Opt into /tui explicitly for the next launch; use /usage when token or plugin spend is opaque; keep --no-daemon in your pocket if the background server fights you.
  • Do not put MCP servers in a repo .agents/plugins tree and expect Cline to load them. cli-v3.0.62 and SDK v0.0.83 only auto-discover ~/.agents/plugins/* (plus explicit agentPluginPaths). That is a foot-gun fix, not a missing feature. Plugin skills show up as plugin-name:skill-name.
  • Antigravity 1.2.10: switch /config verbosity to medium on noisy traces; re-test sandbox prompts — the agent is supposed to try the sandbox first and treat its artifact/scratch dirs as in-sandbox.
  • Goose v1.51.0: if auto-compact looks “stuck at 100%,” that is now treated as disabled. Prefer the MCP version Goose wants; watch Anthropic preserved-thinking and streamed-thinking order if you debug tool-call traces.
  • Zed v1.21.0-pre only: agent.prevent_idle_sleep is default on; SuperGrok/DeepSeek Flash 4.1 are prerelease catalog/UI, not a reason to pin a daily driver.
  • Factory Droid: v0.223.0 defaults new sessions to medium autonomy if you never chose one — set it deliberately. v0.225.0 is the one with “stop subagent” and quieter Droid Shield.
  • Kiro CLI: put thinking/effort in /model; do not build muscle memory on V2 /effort.
  • OpenCode v1.18.32 is a model-routing/usage patch, not a workflow release.

For teams

  • Managed MCP is now a policy surface, not an error string. Claude Code’s allowClaudeInChromeWithManagedMcp exists so Chrome mode can coexist with exclusive managed-mcp.json (the block error now names that setting). Codex 0.155.0 adds Touch ID on Mac MCP prompts and better OAuth expiry/reconnect; 0.156.0 retries credential refresh after 503. Goose adds an operator allowlist for gateway pairing. Cline will not start repo-controlled MCP from workspace .agents/plugins.
  • Telemetry and cost: Claude Code will tell you which project settings ignored telemetry vars or turned telemetry off — inventory those files. Codex /usage is the per-developer spend/plugin view. Tabnine v6.6.2 restores org per-user/per-team caps; skip 6.6.0/6.6.1 (vendor-marked unstable) and do not leave Chat enabled as a workaround for the Agent-only model bug once you are on 6.6.2.
  • Patch Windsurf to v3.10.31 if Restricted Mode is part of your control set — nested JSON settings were a bypass (CVE-2026-81376). Treat the rest of that HTML page (SSH remote agents, ACP always-on) as adjacent, not independently dated GitHub tags.
  • Desktop shells are multiplying (Cline Desktop, Codex TUI/voice, Factory/Kiro artifacts). Decide where plugins, MCP, and skills are allowed to live (~/.agents/plugins, managed-mcp, marketplaces) before developers import Claude Code/Codex tasks into a second app.
  • Reliability SLOs: Claude’s /readyz can stay ready through a short Postgres failover (store.readiness_grace_seconds). Cline retries a non-streaming provider death up to three times (a streamed 429 no longer kills the run, but a streamed turn is never retried).

What to ignore

  • The “+N more changes” tails (79 / 128 / 131 / 39 / …). Those bodies were omitted; do not infer features from the counts.
  • Zed v1.21.0-pre as a production pin, and changelog garnish (Zed Guild, download buttons, “learn more”).
  • Windsurf / Kiro / Factory / Tabnine HTML pages as if they were single GitHub tags. Windsurf’s 3.10.31 note also carries 3.10.27 and 3.10.23. Tabnine’s 6.6.2 page is also the error report for unstable 6.6.0/6.6.1.
  • OpenCode’s catalog one-liners (DeepSeek V4.1 Flash, Grok 4.7) relative to Claude/Codex/Cline session and MCP work.
  • Grok CLI prompt/MCP cleanup proposals in the queue — they are not versioned signals in this evidence set. Do not treat them as shipped.
