Enable You Should Know with `/plugin enable cc-plugin-you-should-know@builtin`

Claude Code v2.1.287 adds Claude Mods and the built-in You Should Know side agent, MCP URL prompts with bareElicitationCapability, an n: agents-view filter, and OpenTelemetry prompt_text. Enable the mod in first-party sessions, unstick MCP servers, and mask the new telemetry field.

Why this loop

v2.1.287 adds Claude Mods, letting plugins modify deeper behavior, and You Should Know, a built-in mod whose side agent flags things you or Claude might miss. Enable it with /plugin enable cc-plugin-you-should-know@builtin in first-party sessions with telemetry on so that extra reviewer is actually running. MCP servers on the 2025-11-25 protocol can now send URL prompts (for example to sign in). Servers that stop connecting after this upgrade need bareElicitationCapability set true on their MCP config entry. OpenTelemetry user_prompt events now include prompt_text, a copy of prompt for backends that nest dotted keys; drop or mask it wherever you already drop or mask prompt. The agents view gained an n:<text> filter on session names and tasks, shows matches in collapsed sections, and Enter opens the first match. On Windows, denying Bash also turns off PowerShell and leaves Claude with no shell tool; treat the new startup warning as a real permission decision.

Proposed actions

  1. /plugin enable cc-plugin-you-should-know@builtin
  2. If an MCP server no longer connects after upgrading to Claude Code v2.1.287, add "bareElicitationCapability": true to that server's MCP config entry so 2025-11-25 URL prompts (for example sign-in) work.
  3. In the OpenTelemetry pipeline for Claude Code user_prompt events, drop or mask the new prompt_text field everywhere you already drop or mask prompt (it is a copy of prompt for backends that nest dotted keys; anthropics/claude-code#70763).
  4. In Claude Code's agents view, type n:<session-or-task-text> to filter by session name and task; matches now appear in collapsed sections and Enter opens the first match.
  5. On Windows, do not deny the Bash tool unless you also intend to disable PowerShell: v2.1.287 warns at startup because that permission also turns off PowerShell and leaves Claude with no shell tool.

Why it matters

v2.1.287 adds Claude Mods, letting plugins modify deeper behavior, and You Should Know, a built-in mod whose side agent flags things you or Claude might miss.

Suggested actions

What's changed

  • Added Claude Mods: plugins may now modify deeper behavior

  • Added You should know, a built-in mod where a side agent watches your back and flags things you or Claude might miss. Turn it on with /plugin enable cc-plugin-you-should-know@builtin (for first-party sessions with telemetry on)

  • Added an n:<text> filter to the agents view that matches session names and tasks; a filter now shows matches in collapsed sections and Enter opens the first match

  • Added prompt_text to the OpenTelemetry user_prompt event, a copy of prompt for backends that nest dotted keys; drop or mask it wherever you drop or mask prompt (anthropics/claude-code#70763)

  • Added URL prompts from MCP servers on the 2025-11-25 protocol, for example to sign in. If a server no longer connects after this update, add "bareElicitationCapability": true to its MCP config entry

  • Windows: Added a startup warning when denying the Bash tool also turns off the PowerShell tool, so Claude has no shell tool

  • Self-hosted runner: Added a built-in gh api (REST only) for sessions that use Anthropic-managed git on macOS and Linux machines where the GitHub CLI is not installed
